My family and I have been doing many fun activities together the past several days. We are trying to stay as positive and happy as we can since the passing of my grandmother and some hospital visits It’s been a bit hectic around here.
Having a toddler around means you have to keep things as exciting as possible. So, we decided to go to the local zoo.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much time to write at the moment 😦 so I will just share some photos of the zoo day.
As many who check in frequently know…I like to make a new post everyday or every other day. However, this week I may not be able to post as much.
There have been some very important things that have popped up in the family and my sister and niece are in town. So, my days are filled with spending time with some of the people I love…like this little girl.
My niece and I spent our morning making puppets and playing with her Barbie…whom she named Auntie Maria. Lol!
I do my best to keep her entertained and sometimes help her quiet down so her mommy can get some rest.
At the end of a fully fun-filled day…I need rest. So, stay tuned sometime later in the week for new posts. 🙂 Follow to be updated!
Having curly hair is a big responsibility. It takes time to make it look good and patience to watch it grow (thank you shrinkage!). It’s my deciding factor on whether or not I go out the house. If it hasn’t been “reset”…or wet in the shower that day(or the night before) and left to air dry then nope, not leaving! Lol!
This is my curly hair routine. I’ve found a good concoction of products that help my hair to stay looking decent throughout the day. 🙂
I always try to start this process at night. I wash my hair a couple times a week and condition it every single time I step foot in the shower. As most of u know…curly hair sucks up moisture like crazy. Let’s just say I run out of conditioner three times as fast as shampoo. So, for shampoo and conditioner I just use the basic moisture Aussie products. I have used other things, but as of right now, it’s what I use.
After I dab my hair dry with a towel, I start my secret formula. Not so secret anymore…haha! (I’m just kidding. It wasn’t a secret to begin with lol) I use 3…sometimes 4 products. That’s a lot…I know. However, for curly hair it really isn’t that much.
First, I put in Pantene Curl Perfection Moisturizing Conditioner. This isn’t a leave-in conditioner, but I make it one. I separate my hair in half…a left side and a right side. Then, I just squeeze a blob on my hand and smooth it into my hair. I make sure to get my ends…I don’t want dry ends.
Then, I add some Herbal Essences Curl Boosting Mousse in level 3. I make sure to get all of my hair…especially the back of my scalp where it gets the most disturbed at night.
After that, I put a small bit of TRESemmé Extra Firm Hold Gel in level 4. I comb this through my hair with my fingers. I make sure not to use a lot of this stuff because I don’t want stickly hair and it does dry it out a bit if you use too much. So, I stay away from my ends with this.
Once all that is put in, I gather all of my hair and make one long braid down my back. I make it tight so that it keeps its form throughout my sleep.
Sometimes I even add some of this Pantene level 3 spray to my braid to help it. Usually, I use this hairspray for the next day when I want my bangs to stay voluminous and in place, because the longer your curly hair gets the more it’s weighed down.
When the braid gets taken out I don’t fiddle with my hair a lot. It needs to dry the way it is because curly hair drys in the form it’s in. If you keep messing with it it’ll mess up the whole process and your hair will be FUZZ-AY! Allow it as much time as you can to let it air dry at home. If it’s still wet and the wind hits it then you’re screwed. LOL!
Again, today I decided to combine a few lip colors to create what I wanted. I’m trying my best to go out of my comfort zone and go dark. Slowly and gradually. Lol!
First, I put on Sephora’s Rouge Oh! oh! (2070AR18). Then I dabbed a bit of Mystic Plum (3024) from Mary Kay again. Lastly, I put a few streaks of Victoria’s Secret gold lip gloss in the center of my bottom lip and did the usually blot blot with my lips. There we go! 🙂
Loving yourself is important to your mental well-being. It is not about being self-centered or showing off, it’s about accepting yourself for who you are, and when you can do that, you can truly start to be a happy person. Here are some reasons why you should love yourself:
Love yourself because it isn’t up to others to love you. It’s a blessing when they do love you, but when you love yourself you allow yourself to let go of the expectation for others to do so.
When you love yourself you become more comfortable in your own skin…which allows you toenjoy life more.
People like people who love themselves. They don’t want to spend much time with people who constantly put themselves down. Love yourself and people will love you and want to spend more time with you.
Love yourself because wishing to be someone else is pointless. It will exhaust you because you will never be able to be anyone but you (regardless of where you go or what you do). You will be you for the rest of your life.
When you love yourself you have no need to impress anybody else. No matter who it is! So, stop trying to please everyone else and you will begin to love yourself. If you rate other people’s opinions more important than your own, then you are not giving yourself enough credit. Their opinions are no more important, than your own, so trust in your own inner feelings and follow your heart.
If you truly appreciate and love yourself, you are more likely to eat healthy food and exercise. You are more likely not to purposely harm yourself if you feel that you are worth more.
One of the best reasons to love yourself is that you won’t feel envious of others when they experience all the good things that life has to offer. You won’t feel the need to knock them down out of jealousy and you won’t feel good when bad things happen to them. You will be genuinely happy for the people around you.
Rather than looking to others for acceptance, you will help them because you are a good person. You won’t be another ‘people-pleaser’ because you already accept yourself. Which is important!!! Don’t spend your life trying to please everyone around you. Those who love you will accept you no matter what! Understand that.
Lastly, you should love yourself because you are the only one that’s with you all the time. You know yourself, your thoughts, and your feelings. Nobody is you, but YOU! 🙂
Here are some tips to help you love yourself:
Stop calling yourself names. Instead of saying “I’m stupid…i’m dumb” say, “I don’t know how to do this right now, but maybe I could learn or practice more.” Another example: “I’m such a failure”…instead say something like, “I lost my job, but I can use this experience to find and keep a new one.”
Try to find one positive thing about yourself and add it to a list each week. Everyday, look at the list to remind yourself why you’re so great! Be specific. Instead of saying, “I’m generous”…say, “When I know that a friend is struggling, I give her a small and thoughtful gift to show that I care. This makes me generous.”
Reward yourself for accomplishing something. Whether it’s buying yourself something you’ve wanted for a while, going out to dinner, or getting a massage.
Tell yourself that you love you and speak positive things about you. Whether it’s in your head or out loud. Focus on the good things about you and the things you look forward to improving. Stay positive! 🙂
