Hey y’all! It’s been a while. So much has happened since my last blog post. However, I’ll get into all that later.
Since i’m back from a three month blogging break I thought i’d just do a simple and fun family post. Last weekend we went on a beach day trip with my side of the family. It was the perfect beach day!
It was about 85 degrees Fahrenheit and the blazing sun was hidden behind thin clouds. The waves weren’t too rough and the sand…well actually… the sand WAS burning, but still! It was lovely!
I’m just going to stop typing and insert the photos from this trip. 🙂 Enjoy!
My sister and mom threw me a great bridal shower on Saturday. Despite the wind and rain it was fantastic! 🙂 The theme was garden southern charm. I loved the decorations and the food was delicious!
We all had a great time. I’m so thankful for those who showed up and stayed. This is the first party i’ve had since I was 9! 🙂
In our family there are 5 birthdays in Spring. Today i’m going to share our fun activities! I already shared one of my sister’s birthdays. You can read about it in my D.C. Zoo post. 🙂
The next birthday is my eldest sisters. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to celebrate with her because I was suffering from a kidney stone. So, I don’t have much to write about on her special day. Sorry Everyone went out to eat at a Belgian restaurant and then went to the movies I believe.
Onto my birthday! 😀 Christopher took me to the Virginia Beach Aquarium. I forgot my camera so I didn’t get any photos, but it was really nice. I loved seeing the baby sea turtles in the lab and nope, I didn’t touch the stingrays or any of the crabs. No thank you! Lol!
After the aquarium we headed to the Lion King on Broadway. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to see it because the night before we couldn’t find any tickets, but we finally found some. So, when the show started I nearly cried! It was just so beautiful! Of course, I had to purchase the live soundtrack. 🙂
Onto my niece’s birthday! (fun fact: We share the same birthday!) We celebrated by going to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania. It was so much fun! 🙂 We all rode rides and spent lots of time together.
For my dad’s birthday Chris and I decorated the house for him and took him to dinner. Then we took him to the movies to see that super hero Civil War movie.
Those are all the spring birthdays we’ve celebrated this year!
After having gone to the ER and staying in bed for days while passing a very painful kidney stone, Christopher decided that we needed to have one of our adventures. We are known for doing spontaneous things, but because of our wedding/life preparing we’ve had to slow down.
We chose (the morning of) to go to Colonial Williamsburg. It’s one of my favorite places. Just the way everything looks there is so…enchanting to me. The gardens, horse and buggy’s, and the way the actors really get into it is fun. Even-though I never know how to respond to them. Despite all the other visitors, you may come to feeling like you’re actually in that time period.
I picked up a couple things while I was there. I wanted way more but…you can’t always get what you want. Lol! I got a cloth doll and some fragrance powder. 🙂
Here I am feeling historically posh…
There were all types of shops(even a working historical post office) and each house has such cute nice backyards. I just love it! The church is even a real running place of worship.
I can’t wait to go back so I can get some of those soaps and that cookbook filled with historical southern colonial Virginian recipes.
Wedding planning is coming together very nicely. Our pre-marital counseling is almost done, and we’re doing good!
I’m preparing for change. I don’t like change, but this is positive change that i’ve been wanting for years. To be married to my bestfriend…what a dream. Don’t wake me up.
Please, pray for us in this time in our lives. It’s a happy time, but also a tiny bit scary since we’ve never done this before. 🙂
So, it’s been about a week since Valentine’s Day. Wow! I’m behind. I’m planning a wedding, re-starting my business, and preparing for life’s major changes(marriage, moving out, etc.). There’s my excuse haha! If that’s not good enough then I don’t know what is.
We actually didn’t do anything on Valentine’s Day. Christopher works on Sundays and that’s the day it was on this year. So, we celebrated the day before. This was our third day of love together.
I got my loving fiance a hydration pack. It’s a little backpack that has a water pack in it and the straw leads to your mouth. You active people know what it is. I also got him an off-brand FitBit. I was not going to be spending $100+ for that tiny little thing. Chris misplaces things more than i’d like…so if he wants that he’s gonna have to buy it with his own spare money LOL!
Each Valentine’s Day he gets me a bouquet of flowers from Strange’s. This year he created the bouquet himself. He selected each flower and it turned out beautifully.
…and they’re still alive!
He also got me the traditional box of chocolates and some balloons. 😀 This time he even got me a jumbo sized card…and an average sized more serious one.
After we exchanged gifts I went back to bed and took a nap and he napped on the couch. Talk about exciting. Haha!
Once we woke up we drove through the country(where my dad grew up) and rode on the ferry. It was so so cold and windy. I ordered Lily’s Chicken from Bonefish Grill and he got some fancy type of fish. All of the food was delicious as always.
After dinner we drove to the movie theater to see Deadpool. It’s what he wanted to see sooo…sacrifices ya know! It was a good movie, but it’s definitely not a children’s movie. We saw it in IMAX Dolby surround. The seats were electronic recliners with footrests. They were like couches! So, I got to lay my head on his shoulder without my side being crushed by an armrest. Speakers came out of the seats, walls, and ceiling. I was amazed.
After the movie he got me Hostess chocolate cupcakes from a gas station(yum!) and we drove back home. 🙂
It was a nice Valentine’s Day all in all. I wonder what life’s going to be like next February. We’ll have been married for 9 months by that time.
So, as the snow continues to melt I thought it’d be nice to quickly make part 2 of “Snowed In.”
I have finished my fiance’s Star Wars triangle quilt(well I still have to add the binding…bleh!). He loves it. It’s not quite big enough for him to use as a bedtime sleeping quilt, but it’ll be great for when he’s sitting up playing video games or just watching TV.
I did end up going back outside the next day. Chris wanted to build a snowman. Funny thing is that I ended up building the whole thing. Huh? She turned out kinda cute though.
We had to walk over 3 miles or so to Walgreen’s to pickup some food the next day. The snow was past my knees. Walgreen’s didn’t have what we needed so we ended up having to go across the main intersection to the grocery store. I’m just glad this is Virginia and not NY. Lol!
So, that’s the quick continuation of “Snowed In.” I’m actually on the phone right now so if this post seems -not so good- then that’s why. 🙂 It’ll be better next time…I pwomise.
A couple of days ago I stocked up on fabric since I knew that we were expected to get many inches of snow this weekend. It’s was funny because I wasn’t the only one who had that idea. Many women were buying enough fabric and supplies to last them the whole weekend.
I was finishing my fiance’s Star Wars quilt when all of a sudden my sewing machine light started flickering and then the machine stopped working. I was so disappointed. A broken sewing machine meant a boring weekend with nothing to do. Then Christopher came over and told me it wasn’t plugged in all the way. -_- You can imagine how I felt…both happy and embarrassed.
Anyways, snow isn’t my favorite thing. It’s beautiful, but I don’t like being in it because… well, it’s cold. Chris wanted to go out and play in it so I decided to make a sacrifice by going out and trying to have fun. Lol! I only lasted like 10 minutes. I had fun, but my hands were freezing.
So, I will be staying inside to quilt (because i’m a granny), cook, and just relax in the warmth. Being snowed in is not a big deal for me, because I love being at home. 🙂
Are you snowed in too? If so, how are you spending your time?
So, I thought a lot about making this post. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to share the theme/look of our wedding since some of the people who will be attending read my blog. I kinda wanted it to be a surprise, but after some thought I decided…why not! I care more about the marriage than the actual wedding decorations and everything. I’d rather focus on cherishing the beginning of a marriage than spending my time making a huge deal about the wedding decorations. I’m not sure if that makes much sense, but yeah. 🙂 I think i’m just super easy-going and simple. Lol!
Which brings me to the point of the fact that our wedding will NOT be all glam and be an extravagant party. I think those weddings are great, but it’s just not my style…and honestly that just seems way too stressful and expensive. Our wedding is going to be very economical and simple. We want to focus on us two becoming one and being blessed by God. To me, that’s what it’s all about.
“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” Ephesians 5:31
Here are the 3 main colors we decided on:
Yes, there’s 3…well technically white is a tint, but whatever. The lavender grey is the more feminine color and the dark navy blue is the masculine. I plan to have white flowers to keep things very simple and classy.
The theme is kinda hard to explain in words. It’s like gardeny, but not what you’d call super boho. I don’t know…maybe i’m just trying to stay away from that word. Lol! I plan to have a lot of greenery and as many white flowers as I can. I know flowers can get costly, so we will be focusing mainly of the leafy greenery…which means we WILL be going into a forest or somewhere and clipping our own greenery. Haha! I also want a lot of lit white candles. 🙂
That’s pretty much it. Everything that it takes to make this wedding happen is very inexpensive…which I love! 🙂
The key word is SIMPLE. The reception isn’t even going to be sit down dinner style. It’ll be more like walk around and grab the foods you want and enjoy our company. Perfect style for families to meet…and perfect for a low budget. It also means we can invite as many people as we want! Everyone is happy.
